community organizing in a chaotic week
near you, maybe? reflections on intentional community from a politically charged week
hi friends,
what a crazy week it’s been in the world! wishing you all safety and empowerment.
when the issues of the country or the world feel overwhelming, i try to ground myself in advice that representative Zoe Zephyr once gave at a talk I attended:
“Start local.”
Looking to make a difference? Start local. Looking to make political change? Start local.
This week, for a ‘zine, I’m doing a profile on a group near me who collects food from grocery stores that would otherwise be wasted, cooks it into hot, fresh meals, and distributes it to neighbors living on the street.
This week, I’ve watched Signal group chats explode in numbers, discussing how they can protect and support their neighbors.
It reminds me that people are taking action. We are building new connections and support networks. Most all of us are going about our days, doing our best to be a good human. But to see that, I have to close out of social media and talk to those around me.

Next week I’ll get back to delivering y’all quality content, analysis, and info about intentional communities!
I’m still on a work grind this month at the children’s museum to finish a grant-funded limited-time project, but we’ve almost reached our goals. After that, I’ll have much more time to focus on writing
Thank you so much for your patience <333
