hi friends! yes, it’s here - we’ve just reached 1,000 subscribers!

crazy to think about how this is being read by almost as many people as were in my high school graduating class. it’s more people than the population of many small towns in Alaska. if we had a block party, we’d fill up the block!

i know all of you get a lot of emails in your inbox, so it means a lot to me that you’ve stuck around & continued to support this work!

most community groups gather together with some common cause, issue, or vision. but if one thing has been clear through my research, it’s that communities can’t survive without joy. being united in passion, in anger, in a dream, all are great. working hard together is great. but any kind of community will crumble if there isn’t space and time dedicated to simply spending time together and enjoying each other’s presence. 

so let’s celebrate!

95% of our subscribers are in the U.S., but we also have readers in Spain, Morocco, Tunisia, Brazil, Turkey, and Zimbabwe! gathering together would be impossible, i hope everyone can take a moment of time today for some gratitude and joy, even in small things.

our art giveaway has been delayed for many moons now due to technical difficulties (the carving tool i need has disappeared somewhere in my house and is determined not to be found) but with some backup support (tool-lending) from a friend, it’s finally coming soon!
